10 Must-Have Free Downloads

Here is a link to an article called "10 Must-Have Free Downloads.

I have to admit that I haven't downloaded any of these programs mostly because my computer is so full now. But you may be interested in this list just to see if there are any free programs that you might be interested in.

Free Money?

Are you interested in free money? I'm not talking about the kind of free money that is related to government grants and the like.

I'm just talking about - have you ever wandered along online just wishing for a way to make some quick money?

I was wondering that myself one day and decided to look around online to see if there was a way that I could make some quick cash!

I do have a Paypal account so when I say quick cash, I really mean quick cash!

I actually did find something!

I actually found a site where someone was offering to pay $10 for reviewing a CD! I took the website up on its offer and received my $10 paypal payment within 24 hours! That was great!

My point in blogging about this is that if you are looking for ways to make some quick cash then you might want to do some searching online to see if there are any sites out there that are offering to pay you for doing something like reviewing music or guestblogging............

You might just actually find something!

I know that I did!

About Free Online Games!

There have been a few times when I have played online games for free!

For example I have played chess online for free and I have even tried to play the doom game online as well but I haven't managed to successfully do that yet.

There are plenty of dedicated game serves online because I have seen many lists of them and I would like to try them - at least some of them.

Since this blog is about free things that I have found online then I thought that I should mention about the free online games.

There are lots of free internet poker games online but I'm not too much of a poker fan. I'm more into the dedicated game servers where I can play games like Doom and Quake online.

I have even managed to find some great Doom and Quake sites where I have downloaded some great levels!

There are online poker games and online casino games that you can take part in. There are even online game rentals as well!

So if you're looking for free online games all you really have to do is use a search engine and you will be able to find LOTS of them!

Windows 7 for $5?

It's so remarkable the different sites that one can find online when one is looking for something else!

Case in point:

I was looking for more information about a 3D program and it led me to a online website where if you join for $5 you can download the FULL version of Windows 7!

Since I am quite happy with the operating system that I have I chose not to download the Windows 7 program but I thought that it interest a lot of people if they knew that there was a website where they could download Windows 7 for just $5!

ICQ

I was trying to sign on with my ICQ program and found that I would have to download their newest version in order to sign-in - so that's what I did!

ICQ is another networking piece of a software program that is available as a free download. Basically what the program does is allow for you to have "contacts" that you can communicate with. It is sort of like a networking piece of software. I think that a lot of people use it for finding friends and finding romance but you can use it for other networking purposes as well.

The program is available as a free download from the ICQ homepage. You can create contacts and message them or you can talk and/or chat with them in real time if they are online as well. I'm not entirely sure but I think that there is a webcam feature as well. (I'll have to check on that though)

Of course there are a lot of other features with this program. You can provide an avatar of yourself and there are also sound files that you can include as well.

I have had this program for a while but haven't used it lately until the last few days and when I found out that I had to download their latest version I became interested in the program again.

You can download the program by following the link below:

The ICQ Homepage

Just click on the top tab that says "Download"

Remembering 911 - Free Banner For Your Website!

I found a site where you can get free web banners to commemorate 911. All you have to do is to go to the website and copy and paste the code to one of your own websites. There are different banners that are provided and you can pick the one that you like the best and copy and paste the code for it.

I think that this is a highly commendable thing to do to help remember the events of September 11th so that we won't forget and that hopefully it doesn't happen ever again!

Are You Interested In A FREE Version Of Paint Shop Pro / PSP?

I see that there are many people interested in finding a free version of Paint Shop Pro and I have finally found a site that lets you download an older (4.1) version of PSP.

I have downloaded it myself and while this is indeed a free version of Paint Shop Pro, it is an older version! Meaning that it doesn't have the .gif animator program and there are no provisions for making layers - like I said it is an older version of PSP!

Basically I use Gimp for my 2d graphics program but I see that there are still a number of people interested in being able to download a free version of Paint Shop Pro - no matter what version it is!

So if you make a $5 donation via Paypal, I will send you the link to the site where you can download this older version! I will also provide a link to a site where you can download other versions of PSP but be forewarned that these will be evaluation versions only!

Free Download - Graphics - Ferryman Fractal

If you're interested in a free fractal-generating program then you should really like this fractal program I found called Ferryman. The program is available as a free download.

Once you get to the download page you will able to see examples of fractals that others have created with this program. Also you will find tutorials and the latest news about the program.

I have downloaded the program myself and once I create a stunning fractal I will upload it here so you can see what this program is capable of.

Geocitites Will Be Closing!

the number of free webhosting sites has now shrunk by one!

Yahoo has announced that they are shutting down their Geocities site. Just in case you didn't know, Geocities was one of the free webhosting sites online!

There are still quite a bit of free webhosting sites online so if you need to move your sites from Geocities, just do a search for some (other) free web hosting sites.

Itunes?

I have heard a lot about Itunes and Ipods but didn't really give it much thought. However today I was downloading a podcast and saw Itunes mentioned again and decided to give it a try.

As I understand it, Itunes is a program that lets you listen to audio and video files - sort of comparable to the Window's Media Player program. I already have a couple of related programs that let me listen to audio files and watch video-related files but I figured that since Itunes seems to be so popular that I would download it and give it a try. I should warn you that the downloadable Itune program is 67 MB in size! I thought it would take me all night to download the program but it only took half the night to download it - LOL!

Since I just completed my download I haven't had a chance to open the program yet but judging from the website it has a ton of features and options so I can't wait to give it a try. (Goodness knows that I'm going to need a bigger harddrive if I keep downloading so much stuff - LOL!)

So once I take it for a "spin", I'll see how much I like it and decide on whether or not that I want to keep it.

To find out more about Itunes (and to get the free download) just click here.

Facebook Fans In An Uproar!

Personally I'm not a member of Facebook. However what I do know about it is that is seems to be a social networking-type website along the lines of MySpace.

I see that those that do belong to Facebook are up in arms about some changes that Facebook has made and I decided to find out more about it.

On February 4, 2009, Facebook changed their terms of service. Here is what another blog post has posted about the change:

"Anything you upload to Facebook can be used by Facebook in any way they deem fit, forever, no matter what you do later. Want to close your account? Good for you, but Facebook still has the right to do whatever it wants with your old content"

When you sign up with Facebook, you grant them the use of anything that you upload to them and you grant them the right(s) of irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to (a) use, copy, publish, stream, store, retain, publicly perform or display, transmit, scan, reformat, modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute those things that you have indeed uploaded to them!

You can read more about this change by clicking here

Just In Case You're Wondering......About Me?

Just in case you're wondering, here's a picture of myself that I made so that I could put it on my main website.

I made this picture quite a while ago with a comic character program that now I don't know where it is?

I'm wearing my Shoprite uniform because that is where I used to work!

I'm having the hardest time finding any kind of caricature program that I can use but I'm still looking!

Getting Donations For Your Blog (or Website).

This isn't exactly a freebie but it is a nice idea if you are so inclined!

Do you want to be able to accept donations on your website or blog? Well then all you have to do is sign up for a Paypal account at Paypal.com.

You will need to have a bank account - hopefully one that provides you with a debit card - otherwise you will need a credit card.

Once you have been accepted and are part of Paypal you can then get your html coding for adding a donation button. You copy and paste that html coding on your site where you want it to appear.

Once a visitor to your site decides to donate, they will click your donation button and donate either a set amount of money (specified by you) or they can donate any amount that they want! Once they have made the donation it will show up (almost instantly) in your Paypal account! Then you can have that amount transfered to your bank account or you can sign up for Paypal's debit card account where you will be able to use the money as soon as it shows up in your Paypal account.

*Please note that there will be a fee for money that is posted to your Paypal account!

Playlist.com

Just found another great website that offers something great!

With Playlist.com you can select songs and add them to your own customized playlist.

As far as I know this service is totally free.

Since I have just joined this service today I just have one song on my playlist - so far! I was thinking about having "silly" songs on my playlist because of all the flak that I am getting because of my BX Error Code Blog

Here is my current playlist:

data="http://www.musicplaylist.net/mc/mp3player-othersite.swf?config=http://www.musicplaylist.net/mc/config/config_black_noautostart.xml&mywidth=435&myheight=270&playlist_url=http://www.musicplaylist.net/loadplaylist.php?playlist=45242247">

Astrology Writer 1

I do have quite an interest in astrology and I found this program available as a free demo download.

Unfortunately I haven't had much success at being able to use this program. The version that I have seems to work in the DOS format and while that isn't too big of a problem, I still can't seem to be able to operate this program.

People have given this astrology program some very good reviews while others have said that the program is quite confusing to operate - and at this point I intend to agree with the later!

Update! - October 4, 2009

Well I have been looking around trying to find out a solution to the problem that I am having with this astrology program and so far it looks as though that since I have only downloaded a demo version of the program, it only shows what a chart will look like and its not possible to make a chart of your own in the demo version - darn!

Icons?

I am on the hunt for icons!

I have this program that lets me change the icons on my folders in my directory. (I would recommend it here but the program does have some problems associated with it).

I also have another program called Icon Viewer that lets me view the different icons that I have on my computer so that I can decide which one I want to associate a folder with. (I got it from one of the toy stores in a "discount" bin.)

But I find that I would like to have more and different icons so that I can have a lot to choose from when I want to associate them with different folders. I have gone to Download.com to find different icons but I'd like to actually see the icons so I can decide whether or not I want to download them.

So I'm on the hunt for some icons!

MicroSoft Comic Chat!

I LOVE this little chat program by Microsoft! Even though some people consider this chat program outdated there are still some that still use it today - including me!

Here is a link to a site that has the program and a list of related resources that are related to this chat program.

Neopets - It Used To Be One Of My Favorite Sites But......

I'm having problems with the Neopets site.

Just in case you don't know about it, the Neopets site is where you can create your own virtual pet. You have to keep an eye on them and feed them. You purchase food with your Neopet earnings and one of the ways that I used to earn Neopet money was to play some of the games where I would earn neopoints.

One of my favorite games was "Carnival Of Terror"

But for the past few days I haven't been able to play the game because every time I try to load it it takes forever! Plus I'm getting some kind of ads that is using all of my computer's cpm. Then my browser just freezes and I have to reload it.

So I'm not able to play the game.

9/26/08 Update!

By using a different browser, I'm now able to get back to playing my favorite Neopets game which is "Carnival Of Terror".

Plant Studio!

*I should preface this blog entry by saying that I'm not including pictures from the website because I don't want to infringe on their copyrighted material

Plant Studio is another 3D program that is specifically for creating plants. Here is a sample picture that I made today using this program. You can download this program for creating plants by clicking here.

The program comes with a sampling of plants already made but what is fun is that you can create plants from scratch. There are a series of questions the program will ask you about how you want your plant to look and then it will generate a plant for you. You can work with this plant or you can "breed" it and that will give you a lot of different versions of the plant and you can decide on which one you would like to work on.

After you finish constructing your plant you can then export it as a .dxf file and load it into your other 3D programs.

People have been creating a lot of interesting-looking plants with this program. But it's not just limited to plants. Shrubs, grasses and other-like objects have been created using this program too.

So have fun with it!
